Wong Hai 黄海

Wong Hai art exhibition

Wong Hai 黄海, born in 1949, started learning art under the tutelage of Singapore artist Lim Kang Kee 林江奇 in 1970. Watercolour is his favourite medium, although he also paints in oil.  An active member of Singapore's art societies, he has participated in numerous art exhibitions in Singapore and overseas.

In 2016, he held his first solo exhibition, The Art of Wong Hai, which showcased his oil and watercolour paintings created over a period of 40 years.  These valuable works include many scenes of Singapore that have since vanished, creating precious historical records.

A proficient and versatile plein-air artist, he captures both cityscape and nature scenes skilfully, whether it is the back alleys of Little India and the shophouses of Chinatown, or the swans in the Botanic Gardens and lotus ponds in Bishan Park.  He loves painting plein-air because it fills him with energy and life.

In this exhibition specially curated for PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, we step into Wong Hai's delicate observations of the flora and fauna in Singapore, from the heartland neighbourhood parks to the formal Botanic Gardens to the wild life at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserves.

"Plein-air with Nature by Wong Hai 黄海 - 与大自然写生" art exhibition runs from 15April to 15July 2023 at PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay hotel level 5.
