Tang Juey Lee 陈锐利

Tang Juey Lee art exhibtion

Tang Juey Lee 陈锐利, born in 1954, studied at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in 1974.  Pioneer artist See Hiang To 施香沱, his teacher at NAFA, was his mentor.  Tang assimilated the fine brushwork in Chinese ink paintings with vibrant watercolour, thus creating his unique watercolour on Chinese rice paper works.

Known as the painter of orchids, he has painted hundreds of paintings of orchids, Singapore's national flower.  He often pairs his orchids with birds, from parrots to sparrows to geese, a continuation of his East and West blend, where the flower-bird genre often seen in Chinese paintings is combined with Western realism.

His works have been collected by many private and public organisations in Singapore and Malaysia, including the National Museum of Singapore and Changi Airport.
