Pont Marie is one of the oldest bridges in Paris. It crosses the River Seine from the right bank near Hotel de Ville City Hall.
It is a busy day; we can make out the crowds of vehicles and pedestrians even though they are only dabs and dots in the painting.
But all the human activities disappear amongst the huge grand buildings in the background, the magnificent historical bridge in the middle, and the wide calm waters of the river in the foreground.
